Superintendent's Newsletter (September 2000)

Dear Patrons,

The school year is off to an excellent start, and we have much to be optimistic about. We have enrolled 524 students in grades kindergarten through twelfth grade. We are very proud of our schools and appreciate our parent's and community's support in our endeavors to provide a quality education to the students we serve.

Mr. John Reynolds has joined our teching staff as the K-12 Vocal Music Instructor. We are very proud to have Mr. Reynolds at Navajo and welcome him to the Navajo family.

Using federal funds to pay the salary for class-size reduction has allowed us to employ another teacher in the lower elementary. This reduction in class size will ultimately enefit the students we teach.

Good communication between our schools and our parents is a must for our children to be successful. Attendance in school should be a top priority for parents. Please be aware of your child's grades at all times. The students academic preparation depends on it. As long as the student, the parent, and the techer work together toward the common goal of education, our students can't help but succeed. May all our efforts be directed toward that goal.

We have scheduled parent/teacher conferences for the 3:00-6:00 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 21st and from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Friday, Sept. 22nd. There will be no school for students on this Friday. Please make an effort to come to discuss your child's progress with the teachers.

I would like to encourage all of our community members to become active in our school. Please take the time to come by and discuss our programs, our successes, and our problem areas. Working together as a school community, we can continue to improve.

Yours In Education,

s/Gary Montgomery
